Printer Firmware Updates
In my opinon if your printer is working properly, DO NOT let your printer preform a printer firmware update... Doing so could STOP you from using Compatible and/or Remanufacture printer Cartidges!!!
Firmware is software embedded in your printers operating system, which authorizes it to function. Simply put, the chip inside your printer that communicates with your computer and delegates what is being printed. Firmware can be updated remotely via firmware updates, which are sent out by the printer manufacturers themselves. These firmware updates affect how the printer works and the way it accomplishes its tasks. Plus most printer firmware updates CAN NOT be reverted once updated. But running a firmware update on your printer can lead to complications.
By law printer manufactures can only sell new or manufacturer refurbished printers that will accept either OEM, Remanufactured or Compatible cartridges. But certain manufacturers, like HP, Brother, Canon, and Epson, have stealthily implemented automatic firmware updates for the sole purpose of ""BLOCKING the usage of Remanufactured and Compatible cartridges"". Why do this? Because a large portion of their revenue comes directly from Cartridge sales. Some manufactures use that is called the "Razorblade" business model, selling their printers at cost (or below cost in some cases) and these manufactures need to sell their OEM Cartridges (at a higher price) in order to make a profit on these printers.
So if you have preformed a printer firmware update on your printer, there is a VERY GOOD chance that the Compatible and/or Remanufactured printer cartridges that I sell will no longer work in your printer!!!!
